To maintain a strong, healthy organization, members must recognize and practice the values acknowledged by that organization. If you were to approach any member of the Epsilon Lambda chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon, she would be able to explain the core values that Delta Phi Epsilon was founded upon and why we continue to take pride in them today. A sister of Delta Phi Epsilon has this ability because of the daily integration of Delta Phi Epsilon’s values, through the PEARL program.

The PEARL program stands for Personal Enrichment Activities for Responsible Living. This program is based upon the five S’s, which are: Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, Social and Self. The PEARL program is integrated in to both the New Member Education process and continued education for active members. To complete a Sisterhood Pearl, members embrace spending time with one another to develop and nurture their bonds of sisterhood. Exceeding the minimum requirements for scholastic success can complete a Scholarship Pearl. Sisters can earn Service Pearls by volunteering their time and effort for the betterment of the community. Social Pearls can be earned by taking time out of your hectic schedule to broaden your horizons. Last but now least is our Self Pearl. The Self Pearl is probably the most important; as it is the one time you are required to put yourself before others.

A sister can earn a self pearl by taking time out of the chaos of life and devoting it to exploring or further developing her interests. Below are just a few things the women in our chapter do to earn their self pearls:

* Travel to a different country
* Get a new hair style
* Start a new aerobics class
* Harness their cooking/baking skills
* Go camping in the wilderness
* Pursue an internship in their academic field
* Read new books
* Learn how to crochet
* Go to a concert
